Re: Spring 2021MSTEP-Assessment

Dear Parents,

During the spring of every school year, students enrolled in Michigan public schools are required to take a summative standardized assessment. This assessment, the M-STEP, is normally required for all students in grades 3-8. Students in the 8th grade typically take both the M-STEP (science and social studies) and the PSAT 8 (reading and math).

What does this mean for your child? Here is what you need to know:

  • The Detroit Service Learning Academy District will offer students the opportunity to take the assessments on-site. However, students are not required to take state assessments.

  • STATE Required Assessments will not be offered virtually. All students choosing to test (MSTEP OR PSAT) will be required to report to the school site to test in person on a given date and time.

IMPORTANT FOR VIRTUAL STUDENTS:  The state of Michigan does not support virtual learners reporting to the school solely for the purpose of testing.
