Reading Intervention Description

The Reading Intervention Specialist provides daily, intensive, small group instruction to students in grades K-3 who are reading significantly below grade level.  Frequent assessments are given to monitor progress and plan instruction. Students participate in research-based activities aimed at providing them with the skills necessary to be successful readers and writers.

Instructional Coaches are part of the Tier 2 RTI Model.  They support 1st through 3rd grade general education students who need support sharpening their early literacy skills.  This pull-out program intervenes through small group instruction, re-teaching skills that were introduced  in class, playing literacy games, and providing opportunities for one-on-one reading practice.

To Our DSLA Families

We would lik to temind you that school doors now open at 7:15 am for student  entry.  Supervisory staff is available at that time to ensure the safety of your family members.

PARENT PICK UP:

We would like to inform you that students in grades 1-5 will now be waiting outside at dismissal time.  Please stop your vehicle only long enough to safely pickup your child.  If you need to talk to any staff member or come into the building, park your car in a legal space in one of the lots so as not to block any other vehicle from leaving.

As you enter the school driveway from Lahser, you will find the first graders to be the first classes in line with their teachers followed by grade 2 at 3:35 pm.  Kingartners will continue to be dismissed from their classrooms.

At 4:00 pm you will find third graders to be the first groups in line at the Lahser entry followed by grade 4 and 5.

For the good of the children,
